About Dragons, Gold and
E- waste

Electronic waste has become a global problem. Hidden within it are valuable materials, such as gold, yet only a fraction of the electronic waste generated worldwide makes its way to recycling. As a result, precious materials are lost from the circular economy. Rather than approaching electronic waste through statistics alone, mythology is used to gain a deeper understanding of this contemporary problem. A mythological lens is applied to the present day to prompt audiences to reflect on prevailing notions of value in an age defined by overconsumption. The project takes two forms: jewellery made from gold extracted from electronic waste, and a mythologically inspired video work.
